Project Background
Located in Izmir’s historic Kemeraltı district, this traditional stone house had been neglected for decades. Its whitewashed walls, blue shutters, and small courtyard reflected classic Aegean architecture.
Design Approach
Akra aimed to preserve the building’s traditional character while updating it for modern life. The design focused on making the courtyard the central element of social and daily activity, blending indoor and outdoor spaces.
Outcome
The project successfully fuses traditional Aegean architecture with contemporary living, offering a timeless and functional home that respects local heritage.
